Barring Nifty IT and Nifty Media, all other sectoral indices settled in the green.

Nifty IT index extends losses for fifth session
NEW DELHI: Dragged by the poor show of Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro, Infosys and Tech Mahindra, Nifty IT index settled in the negative territory, extending the losses for the fifth consecutive session.

The Nifty IT index closed Thursday's session 22 points, or 0.21 per cent, down at 10,522.

KPIT Technologies, Oracle Financial Services Software (OFSS) and HCL Technologies gained up to 1 per cent in the index.

Barring Nifty IT and Nifty Media, all other sectoral indices settled in the green.

Top sectoral gainers Nifty Financial Services and Nifty Realty advanced over 1 per cent.

Benchmark indices Nifty and Sensex settled in the green for the first time in eight days on Thursday.

The Nifty50 index closed 33 points up at 9,769, while Sensex closed at 31,282, up by 123 points, with realty, bank, pharma and metal stocks holding up.

Broader markets fared better as BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices gained nearly 1 per cent each.
