The stock market rose on Monday along with global markets as upbeat US data, a more dovish tone by the Federal Reserve, and the start of Sino-US trade talks soothed investor nerves about a slowing global economy, Reuters reported.
The benchmark BSE Sensex closed the session 0.43 per cent higher at 35,850.16, while the broader NSE Nifty ended up 0.41 per cent at 10,771.80.
Bharti Infratel was the biggest gainer on the NSE index with a rise of 3.1 per cent.
“The stock market gained on the back of positive global cues led by dovish comments from Fed and strong US jobs data. On the domestic front, easing liquidity situation, appreciation in the rupee and selective buying in FMCG, IT and private banks on expectation of strong earnings helped,” said Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Financial Services.
