Maruti Suzuki shares down post September sales figures

Maruti Suzuki sold 1,62,290 units last month as against 1,63,071 units in the corresponding period last year.

NEW DELHI: Shares of Maruti Suzuki were trading marginally in the red in early trade on Monday after the car major reported 0.50 per cent fall in sales for the month ended September 30, 2018.

Maruti Suzuki sold 1,62,290 units last month as against 1,63,071 units in the corresponding period last year.

Total export sales of the company declined 25.10 per cent YoY to 8740 units in September against 11,671 units, while total domestic sales of the company increased 1.40 per cent to 1,53,550 units.


Sales of Alto and Wagon R declined 9.1 per cent YoY to 34971 units, whereas sales of compact cars including Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno and Dzire increased by 1.70 per cent YoY. The company sold 6,246 units of Ciaz in September against 5,603 units in the same month last year.

The scrip was trading 0.14 per cent down at Rs 7,340 at around 10.30 am (IST), while the BSE Sensex was down 85 points, or 0.24 per cent, at 36,141 at around the same time.
