Maruti Suzuki hits 52-week high on strong January sales

NEW DELHI: Maruti Suzuki rose over 1 per cent to hit its fresh 52-week high of Rs 5,985 on Wednesday after the country's largest car maker reported 27.1 per cent year-on-year (YoY) increase in January sales to 1,44,396 units.

Maruti Suzuki, the leader in the passenger vehicle segment, sold a total of 1,44,396 units in January 2017. This includes 1,33,934 units in the domestic market and 10462 units in the export market. The company sold a total of 113606 units in January 2016.

Total domestic sales increased 25.9 per cent on a YoY basis to 1,33,934 units in the month of January 2017 compared with 1,06,383 units sold in the year-ago period.

The utility vehicle space grew by over 100 per cent to 16,313 units in the month of January 2017 compared with 8114 units recorded in the year-ago period. The utility vehicle space includes passenger cars like Gypsy, Ertiga, S-Cross, Vitara, and Brezza.
