Shares of Marksans Pharma rallied over 9% to Rs 306.20 apiece on the BSE on Wednesday after the company reported a 174% year-on-year surge in its Q1 profit after tax to Rs 159 crore, from Rs 58 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

The pharmaceutical company released its Q1 results for this year on Wednesday, in a regulatory filing on the BSE. The company’s EBITDA stood at an all-time quarterly high at Rs 213 crore, rising 113% year-on-year from Rs 100 crore in the same quarter last year.

Operating revenue stood at Rs. 841 crore, up by 35.6% year-on-year, as the company’s UK & Europe formulation businesses recorded their highest-ever quarterly revenue of Rs 356 crore, with a growth of 74.7% YoY. This was the strongest quarter for the UK business, supported by new launches and continued market-share gains, with a strong order pipeline supporting the outlook, as per the company’s statement.


The US & North America Formulation business of the company, which is also its largest market, contributed ~45% of consolidated revenue growth year-on-year, supported by a healthy order book, with new launches supporting the pipeline. The business reported revenue of Rs. 377 crore in the June quarter, up 15.1% YoY.

Australia and New Zealand businesses reported revenues of Rs. 88 crore in this quarter, with a growth of 53.7% YoY, supported by continued portfolio expansion and new product launches.

Middle East shipments were impacted by delays, the company stated, adding that improving geopolitical conditions could support recovery in the coming quarters.

MD Mark Saldanha said that Q1FY27 has been a strong start to the year, with an all-time high quarterly EBITDA of Rs 213 crore and PAT of Rs 159 crore, reflecting the strength of the company’s underlying business and its continued focus on profitable growth.

The company also completed 100% acquisition of Netherlands-based QliniQ and Germany-based ABCnow GmbH during this quarter. QliniQ contributed Rs 44 crore in the quarter, marking an important first step in the company’s European expansion.

The company also crossed Rs 1,000 crore in cash balance for the first time, closing the quarter at Rs 1,058 crore, despite the recent acquisitions of QliniQ and ABCnow. “This provides us with the financial strength and flexibility to continue investing in organic growth while pursuing calibrated inorganic opportunities.” The MD said, as per the regulatory filing.

“Looking ahead, our focus is clear: to carry this momentum forward, scale our businesses across geographies, accelerate new launches, and further strengthen our European platform.” Mark Saldanha said, adding that the combination of broad-based growth, expanding margins, and a strong balance sheet positions Marksans well for the next phase of sustainable growth.
