In the BSE 500 index, 271 stocks were trading in green, while 225 stocks were in the grip of bears.

Domestic benchmark index NSE Nifty was down 34.55 points at 10355.15 in the afternoon trade on Monday on account of selling in frontline bluechip counters.

Northgate Com, Gangotri Text, Gemini Comm, Hind Syntex, Shyam Telecom, W S Industries, Golden Tobacco, Infomedia Press, Akash Infra-Projects and Goenka Diamond touched their new 52-week low on November 27.

The BSE Sensex was trading 93.15 points down at 33,586.09 around 12.05 pm (IST).

On the other hand, Sicagen India, Zuari Global, Oswal Green Tech, IVP Ltd, VLS Finance, Advani Hotels, GHCL, GPT Infraproj, Arman Financial, Donear Ind hit their fresh 52-week high.

In the Nifty 50 index, Axis Bank, NTPC, UPL Ltd, Bharti Infratel and ONGC were among top gainers gainers on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

However, HPCL, Adani Ports SEZ, GAIL, IndusInd Bank and BPCL were among top losers.

Traders were seen piling up position in textiles, infrastructure, leather, cables and power sectors however, selling were visible in engineering, transport, chemicals and hospitality sectors.
