Market Now: Wipro, HCL Tech keep Nifty IT pack down

NEW DELHI: Losses in shares of IT players OFSS (down 3.21 per cent), Wipro (down 2.77 per cent), Tata Elxsi (down 2.53 per cent) and HCL Technologies (down 2.23 per cent) were keeping the sectoral index down during Friday's trade.

The Nifty IT index was trading 0.41 per cent down at 13,449 around 02:35 pm.

Shares of Infibeam Incorporation (down 0.21 per cent) were also slightly down.

However, Tech Mahindra (up 2.49 per cent), Mindtree (up 0.64 per cent) and KPIT Technologies (up 0.48 per cent) were in the green around that time.

Meanwhile, shares of Tata Consultancy Services and Infosys were trading flat.

Equity benchmarks were in the negative territory amid mixed global cues. Surging crude oil prices and falling rupee hit the risk appetite of investors.

The NSE Nifty50 index was down 51 points at 10,631, while the BSE Sensex was 182 points down at 34,967.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 14 were trading in the green, while 36 were in the red.
