Market Now: These stocks plunge up to 9% on NSE

Bank, metal and financial stocks were among the top drags.

Tata Steel, Hindalco Industries, Bharti Airtel and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone cracked over 2 per cent in the Nifty pack of stocks.
NEW DELHI: Shares of Persistent Systems (down 9.34 per cent), North Eastern Carrying Corporation (down 8.46 per cent) and Fortis Healthcare (down 7.56 per cent) cracked up to 9 per cent on NSE during morning trade on Wednesday.

On the other hand, stocks such as Delta Corp (down 7.01 per cent), Indoco Remedies (down 6.09 per cent), Sathavahana Ispat (down 5.65 per cent) and Alkali Metals (down 5.06 per cent) declined over 5 per cent on NSE.

Equity benchmarks were in the negative territory as investors offloaded positions ahead of March F&O expiry and financial year ending.


A weak trend at other Asian bourses after a sharp fall on Wall Street, driven by technology stocks, also weighed on market sentiment here.

Bank, metal and financial stocks were among the top drags.

The NSE Nifty50 index was down 65 points at 10,119, while the BSE Sensex was 211 points down at 32,964.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 17 were trading in the green, while 33 were in the red.

Shares of Tech Mahindra, Indiabulls Housing Finance and Wipro climbed over 1 per cent in the Nifty index.

On the other hand, Tata Steel, Hindalco Industries, Bharti Airtel and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone cracked over 2 per cent in the Nifty pack of stocks.
