Market Now: Power stocks fall; CG Power, Thermax decline over 2%

NEW DELHI: Power stocks CG Power and Industrial Solutions (down 2.51 per cent), Thermax (down 2.37 per cent), GMR Infrastructure (down 2.35 per cent) and Suzlon Energy (down 2.21 per cent) declined over 2 per cent in Thursday's trade.

The S&P BSE Power index was trading 0.84 per cent down at 2,237 around 11:35 am (IST).

Shares of PTC India (down 1.88 per cent), Torrent Power (down 1.82 per cent), CESC (down 1.81 per cent), Reliance Infrastructure (down 1.56 per cent), JSW Energy (down 1.44 per cent), Siemens (down 1.24 per cent), Reliance Power (down 1.11 per cent) and Bharat Heavy Electricals (down 1.06 per cent) fell over 1 per cent in the BSE Power index.

Equity benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was 37 points down at 10,156, while the BSE Sensex was 111 points down at 32,942.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 15 were trading in the green, while 34 were in the red.

Dr Reddy's Labs, Mahindra and Mahindra, Asian Paints, Infosys, Lupin and Axis Bank were trading among the top gainers in the Sensex index.

However, Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro, Sun Pharma, Tata Steel, State Bank of India and Bharti Airtel were among the losers in the Sensex kitty.
