Market Now: Power stocks down; GMR Infra, Adani Transmission top losers

NEW DELHI: Most of the power stocks including GMR Infrastructure (down 2.94 per cent), Adani Transmission (down 2.18 per cent), Adani Power (down 1.83 per cent) and Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) (down 1.68 per cent) were trading down in Wednesday's trade.

The BSE Power index was trading 0.52 per cent down at 2,368 around 01:10 pm (IST).

Shares of Torrent Power (down 1.54 per cent), CESC (down 1.22 per cent), KEC International (down 1.12 per cent), PTC India (down 1.05 per cent), NHPC (down 0.99 per cent), Tata Power Company (down 0.92 per cent), Reliance Power (down 0.83 per cent), CG Power and Industrial Solutions (down 0.74 per cent) were also among the losers in the index.


However, shares of ABB India (up 1.06 per cent) and JSW Energy (up 0.28 per cent) were trading with gains in the index around the same time.

Domestic equity benchmarks reflected cautious sentiment ahead of Futures and Options (F&O) derivative expiry for January series tomorrow.

Benchmark BSE Sensex was trading flat at 36,140, while the NSE Nifty50 index was 5 points down at 11,079.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 24 were trading in the green, while 26 were in the red.
