Market Now: Over 80 stocks hit fresh 52-week lows on NSE

Investors offloaded positions ahead of March F&O expiry and financial year ending.

NEW DELHI: Hit by the bearish stance of markets, over 80 stocks touched their fresh 52-week lows on NSE during Wednesday's trade.

Adhunik Metaliks, Balrampur Chini Mills, Cummins India, Jaypee Infratech, Lakshmi Vilas Bank, Sterling Biotech, Unity Infraprojects, Uttam Galva Steels and Uttam Value Steels were among the stocks that hit fresh 52-week lows.

Reacting to a sharp fall on Wall Street, driven by technology stocks, Indian equity market barometer Sensex slipped over 200 points in early session of trade.


Investors offloaded positions ahead of March F&O expiry and financial year ending.

Stocks such as Persistent Systems, North Eastern Carrying Corporation and Fortis Healthcare cracked up to 9 per cent on NSE.
Bank, metal and financial stocks were among the top drags.

The NSE Nifty50 index was down 65 points at 10,119, while the BSE Sensex was 201 points down at 32,973.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 16 were trading in the green, while 34 were in the red.

Tech Mahindra, Wipro, Indiabulls Housing Finance, UPL and Bosch were among the top gainers in the Nifty index.

However, Tata Steel, Bharti Airtel, NTPC, Hindalco and Adani Ports SEZ were among the top losers in the Nifty pack of stocks.
