Market Now: Over 40 stocks hit fresh 52-week highs today

NEW DELHI: Shares of STEL Holdings, Kalpataru Power, Coral India Fin, Dilip Buildcon, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, Gujarat Apollo, Emami Infra, Indiabulls Ventures, Mawana Sugars, JSW Steel and L&T Fin Holding were among the 41 stocks that hit their fresh 52-week highs during Wednesday's early trade on NSE.

However, stocks such as KSS, Shekhawati Poly, Nagarjuna Oil, Lanco Infratech, Orchid Chemical, Bhagyanagar Properties, DS Kulkarni Dev, Servalakshmi Pap and Commercial Engg were among the 24 stocks that touched their fresh 52-week lows.

Benchmark indices were trading in the positive territory after a robust start.

Speculators covering up their short positions ahead of the August derivatives contract expiry tomorrow added to the upward move.

Positive Asian markets as geopolitical tensions cooled off a bit influenced trading sentiments here.

Besides, a fresh spell of buying by retail investors and uninterrupted buying by domestic institutional investors (DIIs) helped recover the market.

Benchmark Nifty50 index was 77 points up at 9,873, while the 30-share Sensex was 218 points up at 31,606 around 10.40 am (IST).

In the Nifty50 pack, 46 stocks were trading in green, while 5 stocks were in red.

On BSE, 1,627 stocks were advancing whereas 385 stocks were lagging.
