Market Now: Nifty Pharma index in the red; Cadila, Sun Pharma top drags

NEW DELHI: Shares of Cadila Healthcare (down 1.38 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (down 1 per cent), GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals (down 0.54 per cent), Lupin (down 0.34 per cent) and Divi's Laboratories (down 0.15 per cent) were trading in the red, dragging the Nifty Pharma index a little lower in Tuesday's morning trade.

The Nifty Pharma index was trading 0.16 per cent down at 9,527 around 10:30 am (IST). Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 44 points at 10,229, while the BSE Sensex was up 129 points at 32,636.

However, shares of Piramal Enterprises (up 0.81 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma (up 0.76 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals (up 0.64 per cent) and Cipla (up 0.35 per cent) were gaining in trade around that time.

Shares of Idea Cellular, NTPC, Axis Bank, Bharti Airtel, ONGC, ICICI Bank, Vedanta Ltd, Hindalco, BHEL, RIL, YES Bank and Bank of Baroda were among the most traded securities on the National Stock Exchange.

As much as 70 stocks, including Bharti Airtel, Delta Corp, Electrosteel Steels and Ganges Securities hit fresh 52-week highs on NSE in Tuesday's trade.

On the NSE, 1067 stocks were advancing, compared with 512 stocks declining and 390 stocks remaining unchanged.
