Market Now: Nifty Metal index lone sectoral loser

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Metal index was trading as the solitary loser among the sectoral indices on NSE in Monday's trade.

The Nifty Metal index was trading 0.34 per cent down at 3,631 around 11:05 am (IST), with shares of Hindalco Industries (down 1.25 per cent), APL Apollo Tubes (down 1.23 per cent), JSW Steel (down 1.21 per cent), Jindal Steel & Power (down 1.12 per cent) and Vedanta (down 1 per cent) as the top losers.

However, shares of MOIL (up 1.79 per cent), Coal India (up 1.09 per cent), Jindal Stainless (Hisar) (up 0.47 per cent), Hindustan Copper (up 0.22 per cent) and NMDC (up 0.11 per cent) were trading up.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was 29 points up at 10,295, while the BSE Sensex was up 115.02 points at 33365.32

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 31 were trading in the green, while 19 were in the red.

Mahindra & Mahindra, Aurobindo Pharma, Eicher Motors, Wipro, Lupin and ITC were among the top gainers in the Nifty50 index.

However, Adani Ports SEZ, Hindalco, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Vedanta, NTPC and Cipla were among the losers.
