Market Now: Nifty below 10,400; these stocks decline over 5% on NSE

NEW DELHI: Weak global cues and selling in bank, financial, auto and metal stocks were keeping the bourses in the red in morning trade on Wednesday.

The NSE Nifty index was trading 36 points down at 10,391, while the BSE Sensex was down 115 points at 33,742 around 10:25 am (IST).

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 18 were trading in the green, while 32 were in the red.


Shares of Laxmi Cotspin (down 9.26 per cent), Sujana Universal Industries (down 7.14 per cent), Madhya Pradesh Today Media (down 5.15 per cent), SMVD Poly Pack (down 5.04 per cent) and Peria Karamalai Tea & Produce Company (down 5 per cent) declined over 5 per cent on NSE.

Tech Mahindra, Ambuja Cements, UltraTech Cement, GAIL (India), HCL Technologies and Tata Consultancy Services were the top gainers in the Nifty pack of stocks.

On the other hand, Bharti Airtel, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone, Bharti Infratel, ICICI Bank and State Bank of India were among the top losers in the Nifty index.
