Market Now: M&M, RIL among most active stocks in terms of value

NEW DELHI: Shares of Infosys (Rs 153.01 crore), YES Bank (Rs 97.51 crore) and PowerGrid (Rs 82.12 crore) were trading as the most active stocks in terms of value on NSE in Thursday's trade.

Mahindra & Mahindra (Rs 77.88 crore), Reliance Industries (Rs 71.24 crore), Aurobindo Pharma (Rs 54.13 crore), Dr Reddy's Labs (Rs 45.95 crore), Sun Pharma (Rs 41.37 crore), Glenmark Pharma (Rs 40.66 crore) and Maruti Suzuki (Rs 39.40 crore) were the other stocks in the league in that order.

Sensex and Nifty were trading in the positive territory due to gains in pharma, realty and auto stocks.

Benchmark Nifty50 index was 21 points up at 9,936, while the 30-share Sensex was 87 points up at 31,758 around 10 am (IST).

Pharma stocks were creating a buzz after rupee, on Thursday, opened 8 paise down at 65.09 against the US dollar.

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals jumped 4 per cent. Cadila, Aurobindo Pharma, Divi's Lab and Sun Pharma gained up to 2 per cent.

YES Bank (up 2.56 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma (up 1.99 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra (up 1.63 per cent), Cipla (up 1.24 per cent), Sun Pharma (up 1.22 per cent) and Indiabulls Housing Finance (up 1 per cent) were the top gainers in the NIfty50 index.

On the contrary, Bharti Infratel (down 2.69 per cent), HPCL (down 1.09 per cent), PowerGrid (down 1.08 per cent), BPCL (down 1.05 per cent), Tech Mahindra (down 0.78 per cent) and Bharti Airtel (down 0.77 per cent) were the top losers.

On the NSE, 1114 stocks were advancing, compared with 432 stocks declining and 409 stocks remaining unchanged.
