Market Now: Jaiprakash Associates, Amtek Auto, Reliance Defence among top gainers on BSE

NEW DELHI: Shares of Amtek Auto, GVK Power & Infrastructure, Reliance Defence and Engineering, Kansai Nerolac Paints and JP Associates emerged as the top gainer on BSE in Thursday's trade so far.

Benchmark equity indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty are showing signs of recovery on the back of slew of steps by regulator Sebi to make markets more attractive for investments.

Amtek Auto rallied for the third straight session on Thursday after the company maintained that its has initiated process to seek ‘substantial’ investments from the potential investors in the company. The scrip was trading 10 per cent up at Rs 30.95 in the morning trade.

Jaiprakash Associates surged over 12 per cent after a business daily reported that lenders have spared the company from insolvency proceedings after clearings its loan recast package.

Other major stocks that gained more than 5 per cent in today's trade includes Danlaw Tech (up 5.26 per cent), G G Dandekar (up 5.26 per cent), Birla Precision (up 5.42 per cent), Graphite India (up 5.48 per cent), CNI Research (up 5.56 per cent), Force Motors (up 5.56 per cent), Mohit Inds (up 5.69 per cent), Prime Urban Dev (up 5.78 per cent), Remi Metals (up 5.88 per cent) and Punjab Communications (up 5.90 per cent).

The 30-share BSE Sensex was trading 123.16 points up at 31,406.80, while Nifty50 was 32.65 points up at 9,666.25 around 10.30 am (IST).

Among the 51 components in Nifty index, 34 shares were trading in green, while 17 were in red.

In the trade, buying was seen in equipment, shipping, tyres, power, petrochemicals, retail, tobacco, paints and pigments, telecommunications, cement, leather sectors.

However, selling were visible in glass, packaging, service, gems and jewellery, aquaculture, textiles, plastics, finance, chemicals, consumer durables, infrastructure and engineering sectors.
