Market Now: IT stocks in the green; Mindtree, Wipro climb over 2%

NEW DELHI: Majority of IT stocks were in the green in the Nifty IT index during Friday's trade.

The Nifty IT index was trading 0.76 per cent up at 13,268 around 12:40 pm (IST).

Shares of Mindtree (up 2.40 per cent), KPIT Technologies (up 2.19 per cent), Wipro (up 2.06 per cent), Tata Elxsi (up 1.36 per cent), Tech Mahindra (up 1.36 per cent) and Tata Consultancy Services (up 1.25 per cent) were the top gainers in the Nifty IT index.


Shares of Infosys (up 0.94 per cent), Infibeam Incorporation (up 0.29 per cent) and Oracle Financial Services Software (up 0.16 per cent) were also in the green.

HCL Technologies (down 1.58 per cent), however, was in the red in the index around that time.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 53 points at 10,512, while the BSE Sensex was up 195 points at 34,296.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 37 were trading in the green, while 13 were in the red.

Adani Ports SEZ, Wipro, Hindalco Industries, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Eicher Motors were among the top gainers in the Nifty index.

However, HCL Tech, BPCL, Bajaj Finserv, Hindustan Unilever and Axis Bank were among the top losers in the Nifty pack of stocks.
