Market Now: InterGlobe Aviation, YES Bank most active stocks in terms of value

NEW DELHI: Shares of Tech Mahindra (Rs 170.63 crore), followed by State Bank of India (Rs 84.59 crore), HDFC (Rs 73.27 crore), YES Bank (Rs 70.82 crore), InterGlobe Aviation (Rs 63.69 crore) and LIC Housing Finance (Rs 62.10 crore) were among the most active stocks in terms of value on NSE in Tuesday's early trade.

Tech Mahindra was most active in terms of volume too, after it reported a profit of Rs 798.6 crore for the quarter ended June, up 35.8 per cent from Rs 588 crore in the sequential quarter.

Other stocks in the group included Lupin (Rs 83.32 crore), Maruti Suzuki (Rs 83.18 crore), Godrej Consumer (Rs 81.86 crore), Tata Steel (Rs 81.09 crore), Reliance Industries (Rs 66.01 crore), ITC (Rs 64.73 crore), Hindalco (Rs 62.40 crore), BEL (Rs 61.32 crore) and Punjab National Bank (Rs 49.62 crore)

The Nifty spurted 24 points to hit 10,101 and the Sensex rallied over 100 points at the open today, fuelled by strong corporate earnings and positive global developments.

However, selling in banking stocks cooled off markets a bit.

In the Nifty index, Tech Mahindra (up 6.51 per cent), Hindalco Industries (up 2.16 per cent), Zee Entertainment Enterprises (up 1.55 per cent), Wipro (up 1.53 per cent), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (up 1.38 per cent), YES Bank (up 1.31 per cent) and Indian Oil Corporation (up 1.25 per cent) were trading in green.

However, Housing Development Finance Corporation (down 1.28 per cent), Lupin (down 1.06 per cent), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (down 0.94 per cent), Larsen & Toubro (down 0.80 per cent) and Axis Bank (down 0.62 per cent) were in red.

Benchmark Nifty50 index was 10 points up at 10,087, while the 30-share Sensex was 29 points up at 32,544 around 10 am (IST).

In the Nifty50 pack, 36 stocks were trading in green, while 15 stocks were in red.

On BSE, 918 stocks were advancing whereas 454 stocks were lagging.
