Market Now: Capital Goods index down 2%, BEML among top drag

NEW DELHI: The BSE Capital Goods index was trading 2.43 per cent down at 20,181 around 12:30 pm (IST) on Friday with shares of Reliance Naval and Engineering (down 7.82 per cent) and BEML (down 7.61 per cent) as the top drags.

Shares of Sadbhav Engineering (down 6.30 per cent), Welspun Corp (down 6 per cent) and Bharat Heavy Electricals (down 5.38 per cent) declined over 5 per cent in the index.

Shares of Graphite India (down 4.99 per cent), V-Guard Industries (down 4.93 per cent), Suzlon Energy (down 4.65 per cent), Thermax (down 4.49 per cent), Va Tech Wabag (down 4.31 per cent), Bharat Electronics (down 4.11 per cent) and AIA Engineering (down 4.02 per cent) slipped over 4 per cent.


The benchmark indices plunged nearly 2 per cent in late morning trade after Fitch Ratings said weak public finances constrain India's sovereign ratings.

Benchmark BSE Sensex was 553 points down at 35,353, while the NSE Nifty50 index was 161 points down at 10,855.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 12 were trading in the green, while 38 were in the red.
