Market Now: BSE Telecom index up; Idea Cellular, Bharti Airtel among top gainers
Benchmark BSE Sensex was 114 points up at 34,084, while the NSE Nifty50 index was 26 points up at 10,530.

NEW DELHI: The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 2.27 per cent up at 1,711 around 12:25 pm (IST) on Friday, backed by gains in the shares of index heavyweight Idea Cellular, which zoomed over 10 per cent on reports that it was planning to raise a total of Rs 6,750 crore ahead of its merger with Vodafone India to pare debt and free up cash for expansion.
Shares of GTL Infrastructure (up 7.98 per cent), GTL (up 5.35 per cent), Aksh Optifibre (up 4.97 per cent), Reliance Communications (up 4.20 per cent), Sterlite Technologies (up 2.67 per cent), Bharti Airtel (up 1.48 per cent), Vindhya Telelinks (up 0.85 per cent) and Bharti Infratel (up 0.08 per cent) were also on the green.
On the contrary, Himachal Futuristic Communications (down 1.92 per cent), Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (down 1.41 per cent), OnMobile Global (down 1.17 per cent), ITI (down 0.93 per cent), Tejas Networks (down 0.49 per cent) and Tata Communications (down 0.16 per cent) were trading in the red in the telecom index.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 28 were trading in the green, while 21 were in the red.
YES Bank, Adani Ports and IndusInd Bank were leading the Sensex kitty of stocks.
On the other hand, ICICI Bank, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation and Wipro were seen under selling pressure.
