Market Now: BSE Telecom index in the red; Idea Cellular, Bharti Airtel among top drags

NEW DELHI: Telecom stocks Himachal Futuristic Communications (down 2.30 per cent), Idea Cellular (down 0.60 per cent), Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (down 0.58 per cent), Bharti Airtel (down 0.26 per cent) and Bharti Infratel (down 0.08 per cent) were trading down in Tuesday's trade, dragging the BSE Telecom index down.

The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.11 per cent down at 1,617 around 11:15 am (IST).

However, shares of Reliance Communications (up 3.99 per cent), Sterlite Technologies (up 1.70 per cent), GTL Infrastructure (up 1.26 per cent), OnMobile Global (up 1.10 per cent), GTL (up 0.65 per cent), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (up 0.20 per cent) and Tata Communications (up 0.13 per cent) were trading up in the BSE Telecom index around that time.


Benchmark BSE Sensex was 11 points down at 33,929, while the NSE Nifty50 index was 5 points down at 10,488.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 28 were trading in the green, while 22 were in the red.

Sun Pharma, YES Bank, Tata Steel, Asian Paints and Dr Reddy's were trading among the top gainers in the Sensex index.

On the contrary, Coal India, Mahindra & Mahindra, NTPC, Infosys and Hero MotoCorp were trading among the top losers of the Sensex kitty of stocks.
