Market Now: BSE TECK index down; HCL Tech, Idea, Tech Mahindra top drags

NEW DELHI: The BSE TECK index came under strain on Thursday due to heavy losses in HCL Technologies (down 7.07 per cent), Just Dial (6.92 per cent), Reliance Communications (4.98 per cent) and Idea Cellular (4.61 per cent).

The technology index traded lower by 0.74 per cent at 6,979 around 01:35 pm.

Navneet Education (down 2.51 per cent), Tata Communications (2.11 per cent), Tech Mahindra (1.99 per cent), Tejas Networks (1.88 per cent), MindTree (1.49 per cent), Mphasis (1.29 per cent), Wipro (1.27 per cent) and Bharti Airtel (1.19 per cent) too lost out in the technology space.


However, index components Bharti Infratel (up 3.19 per cent), Cyient (2.25 per cent), Tata Elxsi (1.54 per cent), OFSS (1.15 per cent), Tata Consultancy Services (0.14 per cent) and Infosys (0.11 per cent) ran up around that time.

Equity benchmarks cut down their losses because of buying in ICICI Bank, Sun Pharma, Tata Steel and Axis Bank.

The NSE Nifty was down 26 points at 10,692 while the BSE Sensex slipped 18 points to 35,159.

In the Sensex map, 15 flashed green while 16 rolled down.

Kotak Mahindra Bank, Hindustan Unilever and Wipro were among the big names that lost.
