Shares of Balasore Alloys (up 8.78 per cent), Arrow Greentech (up 8.29 per cent), OM Metals Infraprojects (up 7.81 per cent), Ester Industries (up 6.96 per cent), Prakash Industries (up 6.58 per cent), BF Utilities (up 5.55 per cent), Ballarpur Industries (up 5.46 per cent), Max India (up 5.39 per cent) and BLS International Services (up 5.38 per cent) surged over 5 per cent in the BSE Smallcap index.
However, Jaiprakash Associates (down 5.71 per cent), Ricoh India (down 4.99 per cent), Alankit (down 4.96 per cent), Nitin Fire Protection Industries (down 4.94 per cent), Gujarat NRE Coke (down 4.90 per cent), Sanwaria Consumer (down 4.88 per cent) and IFB Agro Industries (down 4.39 per cent) declined up to 5 per cent among the smallcap stocks.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was 5 points up at 10,629, while the BSE Sensex was 64 points up at 34,417.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 21 were trading in the green, while 29 were in the red.
Coal India, with a gain of over 5 per cent, was leading the Sensex index.
ICICI Bank, Wipro and Asian Paints were among the losers in the Sensex kitty of stocks.
