Market Now: BSE Midcap index outperforms benchmark indices

Among the 51 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 30 were trading in the green, while 18 were in the red.

NEW DELHI: Outperforming the benchmark Sensex, S&P BSE Midcap index was trading 0.62 per cent up at 15,932 around 10:45 am (IST) in Tuesday's trade. BSE Sensex was up 0.28 per cent at 31,936, while Nifty was 0.25 per cent up at 10,014.

Shares of SJVN (up 4.02 per cent), JSW Energy (up 3.75 per cent), Biocon (up 3.43 per cent), Havells India (up 2.95 per cent), Sun TV Network (up 2.74 per cent), Endurance Technologies (up 2.33 per cent), Vakrangee (up 2.28 per cent) and Indraprastha Gas (up 2.21 per cent) were the top gainers of the midcap index.

On the other hand, Reliance Communications (down 1.19 per cent), Oberoi Realty (down 1.03 per cent), Jindal Steel & Power (down 0.92 per cent), Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals (down 0.76 per cent) and LIC Housing Finance (down 0.48 per cent) were the top laggards in the index.

Among the 51 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 30 were trading in the green, while 18 were in the red.

Shares of JP Associates, Suzlon Energy, Reliance Comm, JSW Energy, RattanIndia Pwr, Religare, IDFC, GSFC, Future Cons Ent, Delta Corp, NCC, South Indian Bank were among the most traded securities on the National Stock Exchange in Tuesday's trade.

Lupin, Reliance Industries, Infosys, Coal India and NTPC were the top gainers of the Sensex kitty.

HDFC, Bajaj Auto, Adani ports, Tata Motors and ITC were losing in trade.

On the BSE, 1,491 stocks were advancing whereas 749 stocks were lagging and 86 stocks were appearing unchanged.
