Market Now: BSE Midcap index hits fresh record high

NEW DELHI: BSE Midcap index hit a fresh record high of 17,133 on Monday.

However, it cooled off a little and was trailing benchmark Sensex later.

The S&P BSE Midcap index was trading 0.48 per cent up at 17,126, while Sensex was 0.55 per cent up at 33,432 around 10 am (IST). The Nifty50 index was 0.53 per cent up at 10,320.

Shares of Wockhardt (up 2.63 per cent), Indian Bank (up 2.33 per cent), ABB India (up 2.31 per cent), Godrej Industries (up 2.12 per cent), Piramal Enterprises (up 1.96 per cent), Oracle Financial Services Software (up 1.89 per cent), Bajaj Holdings & Investment (up 1.68 per cent) and Larsen & Toubro Infotech (up 1.67 per cent) were among the top gainers in the BSE Midcap index.

However, Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals (down 1.41 per cent), Alkem Laboratories (down 1.22 per cent), Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail (down 0.85 per cent), Whirlpool of India (down 0.77 per cent), Kansai Nerolac Paints (down 0.67 per cent) and JSW Energy (down 0.66 per cent) were trading as the losers.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 38 were trading in the green, while 12 were in the red.
