Market Now: BSE MidCap index hits all-time high
NEW DELHI: The S&P BSE MidCap index hit an all-time high of 15,853 in Thursday's trade, in line with the BSE SmallCap index that too hit an all-time high of 16,395 today.

The S&P BSE MidCap index was trading 0.83 per cent up at 15,835 around 12:03 pm (IST), with shares of National Aluminium Company (up 6.48 per cent), Indiabulls Housing Finance (up 3.44 per cent), TVS Motor Company (up 3.12 per cent), Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail (up 2.73 per cent), Shriram Transport Finance Company (up 2.59 per cent), Bharat Forge (up 2.28 per cent) and Oberoi Realty (up 2.26 per cent) as the top gainers.

However, Aditya Birla Nuvo (down 1.67 per cent), Indian Hotels Company (down 1.34 per cent), United Breweries (down 0.91 per cent), Reliance Communications (down 0.67 per cent), Container Corporation of India (down 0.63 per cent), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (down 0.59 per cent) and Tata Power Company (down 0.32 per cent) emerged as the losers in the index.

Benchmarks Nifty and Sensex cooled off a bit during the afternoon session as a fresh spell of selling emerged in oil & gas and consumer durables sectors.

However, realty, pharma and auto stocks continued catching investors' interest.

Among the sectoral gainers on BSE, realty index gained over 1 per cent.

In the Sensex kitty, Hero MotoCorp, Mahindra & Mahindra, Sun Pharma and Dr Reddy's were leading among gainers, each gaining over 1 per cent.

However, Tata Motors, NTPC, HDFC, Coal India, Cipla and Asian Paints were reeling under selling pressure.

Benchmark Nifty50 index was 15 points up at 9,931, while the 30-share Sensex was 15 points up at 31,677 around 12.03 pm (IST).

In the Nifty50 pack, 31 stocks were trading in green, while 20 stocks were in red.
