Market Now: BSE Healthcare index volatile; Suven Life Sciences gains 3%

NEW DELHI: Shares of Suven Life Sciences (up 2.59 per cent), RPG Life Sciences (up 2.32 per cent), SMS Pharmaceuticals (up 2.18 per cent), Hikal (up 1.78 per cent), Strides Shasun (up 1.39 per cent) and Biocon (up 1.32 per cent) were gaining in BSE Healthcare index in Tuesday's trade.

The S&P BSE Healthcare index was trading 0.05 per cent up at 14,238 around 11:30 am (IST), while the benchmark Sensex was 0.08 per cent up at 32,660. The Nifty50 index was trading 0.15 per cent up at 10,246.

Among the 51 stocks in the Nifty index, 33 were trading in the green, while 17 were in the red.

Some pharma stocks such as Poly Medicure (down 1.84 per cent), Abbott India (down 1.60 per cent), Shilpa Medicare (down 1.59 per cent), Hester Biosciences (down 1.38 per cent), Indoco Remedies (down 1.35 per cent), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise (down 1.20 per cent) and Alkem Laboratories (down 0.87 per cent) were among top losers in the healthcare index around the same time.

FMCG stocks such as Colgate-Palmolive (India), Nath Bio-Genes (India), Pioneer Distilleries and Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar declined up to 2 per cent.

Shares of BPCL (up 2.33 per cent), YES Bank (up 2.08 per cent), Indiabulls Housing Finance (up 1.80 per cent), HPCL (up 1.40 per cent), Asian Paints (up 1.27 per cent) and Aurobindo Pharma (up 1.17 per cent) were the top gainers in the Nifty50 index.
