NEW DELHI: Benchmark equity index BSE Sensex surged over 100 points in early trade with shares of Raj Rayon advancing 25 per cent, followed by Tokyo Plast Int (up 19.99 per cent), MIC Electronics (up 15.54 per cent), Landmark Prop (up 14.06 per cent), Prakash Steel (up 12.50 per cent), India Tourism (up 10.28 per cent), Signet Industries (up 10.12 per cent) and Pradip Overseas (up 10 per cent).

BSE Sensex was trading nearly 100 points up at 31,867.95 on account of buying in frontline bluechip counters and firm global cues at around 11.15 am (IST).

In the Nifty 50 index, stocks such as Vedanta (up 4.17 per cent), Coal India (up 3.24 per cent), Infosys (up 3.06 per cent), Bank of Baroda (up 2.11 per cent), BPCL (up 1.85 per cent), Hindalco Industries (up 1.80 per cent) and Bharti Airtel (up 1.74 per cent) were among top gainers on Thursday.

The Nifty 50 index was trading 35.85 points up at 9,933.15 at around the same time.

Among the 51 components in Nifty index, 30 shares were trading in the green, while 21 were in red.

More than 30 stocks on NSE hit their fresh 52-week high in morning trade. Shreyas Shipping, AgriTech (India), Thangamayil Jew, BEML, Poddar Deve, Graphite India, Emkay Global, Goldstone Infra, Metkore Alloys, Hexaware and Edelweiss Finance touched their fresh 52 week high.

On the other hand, Magadh Sugar & Energy, Servalakshmi Pap, Usher Agro, Blue Blends, ANG Industries and Shekhawati Poly stocks hit their new 52-week low levels in Thursday’s morning trade.
