Marico, Sterlite Tech among top gainers on BSE
Among the 50 components in the Nifty index, 34 shares were trading in the green, while 16 were in the red.

NEW DELHI: The domestic equity benchmark BSE Sensex was trading 156.73 points up at 38,757.07 on account of buying in frontline bluechip counters.
Shares of Beardsell (up 19.72 per cent), Punjab Communications (up 17.65 per cent) , Shree Rama Multitech (up 17.28 per cent), Vegetable Products (up 15.51 per cent), Shalimar Wires (up 13.73 per cent), Prime Customer Services (up 13.01 per cent), Uniply Ind (up 12.35 per cent) , Jagsonpal Pharma (up 12.25 per cent), Morepen Labs (up 11.91 per cent) and Cybertech Systems (up 10.61 per cent) were among the top performers.
Marico (up 7.04 per cent) and Sterlite Technologies (up 5.17 per cent) too were trading 5-7 per cent higher at around the same time.
The Nifty 50 index was trading 35.70 points up at 11,633.95.
