Manaksia surges 25 pc on debut trade, ends lower

The shares of Manaksia Ltd surged 25 per cent on debut trade on the BSE on Tuesday but later paired some gains to settle only five per cent higher.

MUMBAI: The shares of Manaksia Ltd, formerly known as Hindusthan Seals Ltd, surged 25 per cent on debut trade on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Tuesday but later paired some gains to settle only five per cent higher.

The scrip witnessed an intra-day high of Rs 248.70 and a low of Rs 161.55 on the BSE, before closing at Rs 168.10. More than 1.22 crore shares changed hands on the bourse.

On the National Stock Exchange, the scrip was listed at Rs 175.30. It witnessed a high of Rs 212 and low of Rs 161.70 as over 2.20 crore shares were traded. Earlier in the day, the shares of the company got listed with 25 per cent premium on the BSE and more than nine per cent on NSE.

Manaksia listed over 6.95 crore equity shares at an issue price of Rs 160 per share. The company plans to use the funds for expansion of its metals business at Haldia in West Bengal. The company produces aluminium alloy ingots, colour coated metal sheets, crown closures, plastic caps and metal containers.
