Lupin gains 4% over drug patent settlement

Drug maker Lupin rose over 4 per cent after the firm said it had settled a patent litigation with US-based Schering-Plough Corp relating to desloratadine tablets, used to treat allergies.

MUMBAI: Drug maker Lupin rose over 4 per cent after the firm said it had settled a patent litigation with US-based Schering-Plough Corp relating to desloratadine tablets, used to treat allergies.

As per the terms of the settlement, Lupin will be licensed under the relevant desloratadine patents, and free to commercially launch its generic desloratadine product, on Jul 1, 2012, or earlier in certain circumstances.

At 10:45 am, the stock eased some its gains and was trading at Rs 566, up 2.5 per cent from the previous close.
