A Mumbai-based operator, who shares his first name with the actor who played the protagonist in Bollywood hit ‘Khalnayak’ of the 90s, is said to be back in action in the Ackruti stock. The last time this player was active at the counter, he managed to nearly treble the stock price in less than two months between February-March 2009.

The buzz was that he had an active support of “friendly circles”, which were trying to squeeze another market operator who had gone ‘short’ in the stock. Remains to be seen if he can do an encore, considering that appetite for the real estate sector is rather subdued at the moment. Ackruti shares closed at Rs 500.25, up 2.1% over the previous close. On BSE, 4.2 lakh shares were traded compared to the two-week average daily volume of around one lakh shares.
