JSW Energy gains over 4% as Barmer plant resumes production

JSW Energy has moved higher by over 4% to touch its day’s high of Rs 52.55 in trade on Monday after achieving full commercial operations

NEW DELHI: JSW Energy has moved higher by over 4% to touch its day’s high of Rs 52.55 in trade on Monday after achieving full commercial operations at its 1,200 mega-watt (MW) Ratnagiri power plant and resumption of operations at the Barmer plant.

“JSW Energy has also resumed operation of 2x135 MW Barmer project on October 12, 2011 pursuant to the grant of adhoc interim tariff by the Rajhasthan Electricity Regulatory Commision (RERC),” the company said in a filing to the stock exchanges.

“The fourth unit of 300MW power project at Jaigad, Ratnagiri district, Maharashtra state, has been successfully commissioned and has achieved commercial operation date (COD). Consequently, all the four units are commercially operational,” said the report.
The aggregate generation capacity of JSW Energy Ltd now stands at 2330 MW. The Barmer project is expected to commission the balance units by the end of the current fiscal 2012.

The stock opened at Rs 50.65 and touched high of Rs 52.55 after the announcements. At 12:50 p.m., shares of the company were trading 2.5% higher at Rs 51.30.
