Kochi-based JRG Securities is undergoing a massive rebranding of its broking business. The company has rebranded its trading website as ‘Indi trade’ — retaining very less colour or flavour of the old brand. Ironically, Baring Private Equity Partners-managed JRG Securities had earlier this year sought shareholder approval (through postal ballot) for changing the name of the firm from JRG Securities to ‘Indi trade Capital’.

The motion got defeated as only 68% voted in favour of the resolution for a name change. It was then, the management of JRG Securities (JRG stands for the first names of Jiji Antony, Regi Jacob and Giby Mathew, the former owners of the broking firm) decided to rebrand its business as ‘Indi trade’. According to sources in broking circles, private equity firm Baring India has been running the Kochi-based brokerage JRG for the past one year, after original promoters stepped down from the management due to differences with the PE firm. Shares of JRG Securities ended 1.6% higher at Rs 40 on BSE on Friday.
