NEW DELHI: Shares of Jet Airways dipped over 2 per cent on Wednesday morning as four more aircraft were grounded by the airlines over non-repayment of dues to lessors, taking the total to 32.

With debts of more than $1 billion, the carrier has defaulted on loans and has not paid pilots, leasing firms and suppliers for months.

The scrip closed at Rs 240.60, down 2.06 per cent on BSE while the benchmark BSE Sensex closed 0.58 per cent higher at 37,752.17.


India has grounded Boeing 737 MAX aircraft being operated by SpiceJet and Jet Airways due to two deadly accidents within a span of five months which will lead to cancellations and increase fares further in the domestic sector.

Meanwhile, the shares of Jet Airways opened at Rs 241.70 on BSE against its previous closing of Rs 245.65.
