Japan's Sojitz Corporation sells 12.8 crore shares in Samvardhana Motherson

Samvardhana Motherson came into existence as a result of proposed restructuring in erstwhile Motherson Sumi
Sojitz Corporation sold 12.8 crore equity shares or 2.83% stake in Samvardhana Motherson on Tuesday, showed BSE bulk deals data. The transaction was executed at an average traded price of Rs 64.53. This was at a significant discount in comparison with the previous day’s closing price of Rs 69.2 per share.

As of the quarter ended June, the entity held 3.46% stake or 15,61,25,499 shares in the company.

Sojitz Corporation was established out of the union of Nichimen Corporation and Nissho Iwai Corporation. The Sojitz Group consists of approximately 400 subsidiaries and affiliates located in Japan and across the globe, developing wide-ranging general trading company operations in a multitude of countries and regions.


Samvardhana Motherson came into existence as a result of proposed restructuring in erstwhile Motherson Sumi wherein the domestic wiring business of the company was demerged from the existing entity and called Motherson Sumi Wiring. On the other hand, Motherson Sumi was merged into promoter-held Samvardhana Motherson.
