NEW DELHI: Jagran Prakashan Ltd surged 9.3 per cent on the BSE on Tuesday, a day after the publisher of leading Hindi daily newspaper Dainik Jagran, reported an over three-fold jump in its consolidated net profit at Rs 179.97 crore for the quarter ended June 30, driven by growth in advertisement revenue.

The company had posted a net profit of Rs 55.13 crore in the April-June period last year, it said in a filing to the BSE.

JPL's total income on a consolidated basis during the quarter under review was up 9.27 per cent to Rs 481.14 crore as against Rs 440.29 crore in the year-ago period, said a PTI report. Revenue from advertisement was up by 11.9 per cent to Rs 345.57 crore during the first quarter of FY2015-16 as against Rs 308.89 crore of the same period last fiscal, added the report.
