IT stocks gain up to 3% on bourses
Shares of IT cos today saw renewed buying interest from investors & ended with up to 3% gains, helping the BSE benchmark Sensex settle in positive zone.
Shares of Wipro ended 2.72 per cent higher at Rs 409.70 on the BSE and was the top performer among the 30-Sensex blue-chip stocks.
Similarly, TCS gained 1.39 per cent to close at Rs 1,240.80, while Infosys rose by 0.81 per cent at Rs 2,406.95 and HCL Tech was up 3.08 per cent at Rs 505.75.
Following gains in these stocks, the BSE IT index settled for the day 1.19 per cent higher at 5,625.39 and was the best performer among the 13 sectoral indices.
Dealers said buying interest re-emerged in recently battered IT sector with Infosys, TCS and Wipro, ending with notable gains, helping Sensex to close in the positive zone.
According to Sharmila Joshi, Head-Equity, Fairwealth Securities: " IT stocks rose as euro-zone debt worries eased a bit."
TCS, Infosys and Wipro together added the most to the overall gains made by the Sensex where it ended 21.74 points up at 16,438.58.
