Is the stock market closed for Christmas today?

Stock markets will be closed on Wednesday, December 25 on account of Christmas. Accordingly, all the segments including, the equity segment, derivative segment, and SLB segment will be closed.

The multi-commodity exchange will also be closed for both morning and evening sessions.

Japan's Nikkei share average inched down on Wednesday as investors avoided active bets with Wall Street closed for the Christmas holiday.


China's yuan slipped and traded near a 13-month low against the dollar on Wednesday, weighed down by broad greenback strength and widening yield differentials in the world's two largest economies


In the next calendar year, the markets will have 14 trading holidays against 16 in the current calendar year, according to the NSE and BSE holiday calendars.

Additionally, the months of February, May, November, and December each feature one holiday, while March and August include two holidays each. April and October will witness three trading holidays each.

The next trading holiday will be on Wednesday, February 26 on account of Mahashivratri.

It is also important to note that certain holidays coincide with weekends in 2025, such as Republic Day on January 26, Shri Ram Navami on April 6, and Muharram on July 6, all falling on Sundays, and Bakri Id on Saturday, June 7.
