Stock Market Closed today; On October 1, 2025, Indian stock and commodity markets are open for Maha Navami. Key October trading holidays and Diwali Muhurat session are noted; markets begin October cautiously ahead of RBI MPC meet.

According to the official holiday calendar released by NSE and BSE, there are three trading holidays in October 2025, apart from the usual weekends. These are:
- October 2, 2025 (Thursday): Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra
- October 21, 2025 (Tuesday): Diwali Laxmi Pujan
- October 22, 2025 (Wednesday): Balipratipada
On these days, trading across equity, commodity, and currency markets will remain suspended.
Additionally, as per tradition, the exchanges will conduct a special Muhurat trading session on Diwali.
This year, it falls on October 21, 2025, with the symbolic one-hour trading window scheduled between 1:45 pm and 2:45 pm, and order modifications allowed until 2:55 pm. This session is considered auspicious for new investments and will be subject to normal settlement rules.
On the market update front, Indian equities began the October series on a cautious note ahead of the RBI Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meet. The Sensex was down about 100 points, or 0.1%, at 24,620, while the Nifty 50 edged up by 9 points, or 0.03%, in early trade.
Auto and pharma stocks were among the key gainers, while IT and metals saw mild selling pressure.
