Infosys rises over 1% on hopes of strong Q3 numbers
Infosys carries the maximum weight in the Sensex after RIL. The scrip was also the volume buzzer with over 13 lakh shares traded on the bourses.
The shares of the country's second largest software exporter, which kicks off India Inc's earnings season tomorrow, rose by 1.37 per cent to settle at Rs 3,374.95 on BSE. During the day, the scrip gained 1.76 per cent to touch an intra-day high of Rs 3,388.
In a similar fashion, the scrip rose 1.27 per cent to close at Rs 3,368.05 on the National Stock Exchange.
The scrip was also the volume buzzer with over 13 lakh shares traded on the bourses.
"The market is expecting a quarter-on-quarter growth by the IT major to be anywhere in between 5-7 per cent. Besides, the market is keenly waiting for the big number to get a boost from it," Ashika Stock Brokers research head Paras Bothra said.
The rise in the IT major also helped the broader market benchmark Sensex close hogher by 337.76 points at 19,534.10.
Infosys carries the maximum weight in the Sensex after Reliance Industries.
Meanwhile, shares of other IT companies too ended on a positive note. TCS closed 3.28 per cent higher and Patni Computer 1.99 per cent up on BSE.
