HPCL falls over 2%, Britannia rises 1% on Nifty rejig
NEW DELHI: Shares of HPCL were down over 2 per cent in Tuesday's morning session after the Index Maintenance Sub-committee (IMSC) of NSE Indices decided to replace oil marketing company HPCL with Britannia Industries on the flagship Nifty50. This change will become effective from March 29.

HPCL closed 0.94 per cent lower at Rs 226.05 while Britannia Industries closed 0.95 per cent up at Rs 3073.80 on BSE.

"The committee also made a few changes in indices such as Nifty Next 50, Nifty500, Nifty 100, Nifty Midcap 150, Nifty Smallcap 250, Nifty Midcap 50 and Nifty Midcap 100, among others. For the broader Nifty500 index, a total of 25 changes have been made. Recent listings such as Aavas Financiers, Fine Organic Industries, HDFC Asset Management Company, IndoStar Capital Finance and TCNS Clothing Co made it to the list," ET reported.


Meanwhile, the shares of HPCL opened at Rs 224.10 on BSE against its previous closing of Rs 228.20.
