Hero Honda, M&M scrip falls on BSE ahead of Q2 results

Hero Honda and M&M fell as much as two per cent ahead of their second quarter results to be announced later in the day.

MUMBAI: Auto majors Hero Honda and Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) fell as much as two per cent in the morning trade today on the Bombay Stock Exchange, ahead of their second quarter results to be announced later in the day.

Two-wheeler giant Hero Honda plunged 2.48 per cent to touch a low of Rs 1,854 on the BSE and emerged as the biggest loser among the Sensex companies.

Similarly, on the National Stock Exchange the scrip fell 2.70 per cent at Rs 1,856.30.

M&M too lost 2.44 per cent to touch an early low of Rs 715.55 on the BSE. On the National Stock Exchange it was quoting at Rs 725.45, down 1.04 per cent.

Other auto companies too were trading in the red, including Tata Motors, which was down 2.23 per cent and Bajaj Auto 0.03 per cent lower.

However, Maruti Suzuki defied the trend and was quoting at Rs 1,525.50, up 0.17 per cent.

The BSE auto index was trading at 9,852.54, down 89.37 and was the worst peformer among the other 13 sectoral indices.

Meanwhile, the 30-share index Sensex was trading 19,970.48 at 1000 hours.
