NEW DELHI: The pharma major, GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd, is seen actively looking at in-licensing deals with global MNCs, reports ET Now.

According to the report, the company is currently in negotiation of in-liscensing deals with 3 parties for deals in Derma, Respiratory & Antibiotic areas.

In an e-mail response, the company's management said, “In licensing is a part of our growth strategy and we are constantly looking for opportunities which we announce only when an arrangement is crystallized.”

The cost involved in Research & Development in the pharmaceutical industry is expensive and consumes lot of time and resources. In-licensing provides companies the leverage to build their base by acquiring the rights to molecules, developed by other companies or research departments.

By acquiring the rights, it helps the company in reducing cost, remain competetive and fuel in-organic growth.

At 12:00 p.m., the shares in the company were trading 0.4% lower at Rs 2113 on BSE. For the year the stock has dropped a little over 10%.
