Gold Rate Today: Silver gains 1%, gold too trades up

NEW DELHI: Precious metals gold and silver were trading in the positive territory in the morning deals on Wednesday.

MCX Gold futures were trading 0.22 per cent, or Rs 67 higher at Rs 30,996 per 10 grams at 11:10 am (IST), while MCX Silver futures were up 1 per cent, or Rs 387, at Rs 38,658 per 1 kg at the same time.




SPDR Gold Trust GLD, the world's largest gold-backed exchange-traded fund, said its holdings stood at 866.77 down 4.43 tonnes, from the previous business day.

Holdings of the largest silver-backed exchange-traded-fund(ETF), New York's iShares Silver Trust SLV, stood at 9856.67 tonnes, remain unchanged from the previous business day.

On the global front, gold prices edged after falling almost one per cent in the previous session on the back of a stronger US dollar to hit their lowest level this year.
