Goa Carbon sheds 3% as Paradeep unit workers go on strike

NEW DELHI: Shares of Goa Carbon dropped 3 per cent in Tuesday's trade after workers at a unit in Odisha go on strike.

The company told stock exchanges that operations at its Paradeep unit in Odisha have been put on temporary halt due to the obstructions by the contract workers.

The company said that the workers are demanding that their retirement age should be raised from 58 years to 60 years. The management of the company has initiated the discussion with the contractor and the workers to resolve the issue and to resume the work, the company said.


The stock fell 2.9 per cent to hit a low of Rs 655.30 on BSE. The company informed the stock exchanges about the development around the closing of Monday's session.

The other two units of the company at Goa and Bilaspur are in full operation and the company plans to service the immediate orders in hand from the aforesaid units, the company said.
