GHCL dips 20 pc on bourses amid SEBI ban on its promoters
GHCL on Tuesday slipped 20 per cent on the BSE after market regulator SEBI barred the company's promoters from trading in the stock market.
In the morning, the scrip opened at Rs 25.65, which is also its intra-day low level, down 19.96 per cent from its previous close of Rs 32.05. Over 11.74 lakhs shares of the company changed hands on the BSE.
Similar trend was witnessed on the National Stock Exchange, where the stock opened in a weak note of Rs 29, down 9.23 per cent. Soon the shares of GHCL touched a low of Rs 25.70, down 19.56 per cent from its previous close. Over 20.38 lakh shares changed hands on the BSE.
Yesterday, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) banned GHCL promoters from dealing in shares for giving incorrect information about shareholding pattern.
SEBI has banned the company's chairman Sanjay Dalmia, MD Shanker Jalan and its company secretary Bhuwneshwar Mishra from trading in the securities market.
The market regulator has also directed the company to reconcile and file the correct shareholding details with the stock exchanges.
Later, GHCL was trading at Rs 28, down 12.64 per cent on the BSE and at Rs 27.95, down 12.52 per cent on the NSE.
