Fortis Healthcare up 5 pc on BSE

Shares of hospital chain soared 5 per cent to a 52-week high of Rs 187.45 on the Bombay Stock Exchange in the morning trade today.

MUMBAI: Shares of Fortis Healthcare today surged 5 per cent to touch an all-time high of Rs 187.45 on the BSE, a day after the company's announcement to acquire 23.9 per cent stake in Singapore-based healthcare firm Parkway Holdings.

Shares of hospital chain soared 5 per cent to a 52-week high of Rs 187.45 on the Bombay Stock Exchange in the morning trade today.

Similarly, on the National Stock Exchange the shares soared 5.31 per cent to a high of Rs 187.40.

In the early morning trade a total of 86,13,118 shares of Fortis Healthcare changed hands on both the bourses.

Yesterday, the Indian healthcare major had said it would acquire stake in Parkway Holdings from TPG Capital (formerly Texas Pacific Group) for about USD 685.3 million (nearly Rs 3,100 crore).

Fortis intends to seek four seats on the board of directors of Parkway and nominate Malvinder Mohan Singh (current Chairman of Fortis Healthcare) as the Chairman of the board of Parkway.

Shares of Fortis Healthcare were trading at Rs 184.95 on the BSE, up 3.70 per cent from the previous close at 1112 hrs.
