FMC Chairman gets 3 month extension for 5th time

Ramesh Abhishek was today given a three-month extension as the chairman of the commodity markets regulator Forward Markets Commission.

NEW DELHI: Senior IAS officer Ramesh Abhishek was today given a three-month extension as the chairman of the commodity markets regulator Forward Markets Commission ( FMC).

This is the fifth time that Abhishek has got an extension after taking over as the chief of the commodity markets regulator in September, 2012.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension of the tenure of Ramesh Abhishek as Chairman, FMC, for a period of three months beyond July 8, 2015 or till the merger of FMC with SEBI, an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) said.

Abhishek, a 1982 batch IAS officer of Bihar cadre, was given three-month extension each in July and October of last year. His third extension was given in January this year and he was again given three months extension on April 7, this year.
